I had the same issue with the starter cartridge. I changed the time out setting to the highest level as it only gave me that message after it "went to sleep". I turn my printer off at night and the highest timeout setting gets me through the work day. I used the cartridge until it was empty. I ordered a Dell High Yield toner and felt sure I would no longer get that message, but I still do if I don't print anything with 2hrs or don't turn it off at night. It's quite annoying!!
