Hi Rick. So far, I'm just making things worse;-). Last night I noticed the printer wasn't working right from my Win7 machine. I've never had any problems with it before, so I assumed I had corrupted something in my attempts to set up the network printer on the new Win8 machine. So on the Win7 machine I removed the network printer (with no problems), restarted the Win7 machine, clicked add a printer on the Devices and Printers menu. Inserted the dell printer disk and selected Repair files option. It said it added it successfully, and it showed in the Devices and Printers screen, and even was listed as the default printer (which was the way I had it before removal). So now I thought everything would be back to normal, but when I print something I get a very brief display (maybe a tenth of a second) of the Dell printer notification in the lower right corner. Then it goes away, nothings prints and no document ever shows up in queue or prints. It just seems to completely disappear. Other than that behavior, everything about the Devices and Printers screen looks correct and Device Manager says the V715w printer is working properly. But Device Manager doesn't list the printer under the name I gave it when I added it for the network. So, now please help me get the printer working from the Win7 machine again, then we'll work on adding it to the Win8 machine. The Win7 machine is 64 bit, and I use Microsoft Security Essentials, and Windows firewall. And up till yesterday, haven't had any problem printing from the Win7 machine. Oh, and I also used System Restore to go back a couple of days but that didn't change anything. I did the system restore before deleting and re-adding the network printer.
